Megan Dosouto, Associate Attorney

Megan Dosouto is an Associate Attorney at the Family Law Center of Rhode Island. She is passionate about family law and is dedicated to providing compassionate counsel while vigorously advocating for her clients. Family-oriented, Megan strives to help clients maintain positive relationships with their families. She and Attorney Cardullo work collaboratively together on cases.

Megan earned her Bachelor of Science degree through Roger Williams University’s accelerated Legal Studies 3+3 Program, with a concentration in Foreign Language and Latin American Studies and a minor in Public and Professional Writing. During her undergraduate studies, she served as an Honors Ambassador, Orientation Advisor, and Event Coordinator. Megan was a member of the Honors Program, earned Dean’s List recognition every semester, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2023. She also received a certificate in Mediation.

Megan went on to attend Roger Williams University School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor in May 2025. While in law school, she was an active member of the Women’s Law Society for all three years and served as Vice President during her final year.

During law school, Megan interned for the Honorable Mary S. McElroy at the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. In that role, she gained valuable insight into the inner workings of federal criminal and civil litigation, conducting legal research, drafting memoranda, and observing court proceedings and hearings. She also volunteered with the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Fall River, Massachusetts, where she shadowed public defenders and observed criminal defense advocacy firsthand.

Megan began interning with Attorney Cardullo at the Family Law Center of Rhode Island during her second year of law school. Over the course of two years, she attended court proceedings, conducted legal research, and drafted motions and memoranda. She has worked closely with clients throughout every stage of their cases, from intake through resolution.

Megan was sworn into the Rhode Island Bar in November 2025. Since becoming an attorney, she has handled a variety of family law matters and has served as co-counsel with Attorney Cardullo in a divorce trial spanning more than eleven days.

Megan is a native Portuguese speaker and has completed advanced college-level Spanish coursework, including two Legal Spanish courses at Roger Williams University School of Law.

Originally from a small farming town outside Hartford, Connecticut, Megan has lived in Newport County, Rhode Island, since high school. She is engaged and resides in Newport County with her fiancé. Megan comes from a large Portuguese family and regularly travels to the Azores to visit extended family members. In her free time, she enjoys painting, jewelry making, and building LEGO flower sets.
